About

Artist Statement

I'm Aria Lakier, a young artist who believes that every mark on paper is a conversation with the world. Art isn't just something I do — it's how I think, how I process, and how I connect with the things that matter to me.

Right now, I'm exploring everything — drawing, painting, mixed media, digital art. I don't want to limit myself to one medium because each one teaches me something different about how to see. A charcoal sketch feels different from a watercolor wash, and both tell stories that words can't quite capture.

This summer, I'll be attending Interlochen Arts Camp, where I'll have the chance to work alongside other young artists, learn from experienced instructors, and push my creative boundaries in new directions.

My goal is to build a body of work that shows who I am as an artist — not just technical skill, but genuine curiosity and a willingness to take creative risks. I want my art to ask questions, not just provide answers.

This portfolio is a living document. It will grow as I grow, capturing my artistic journey from where I am now to wherever the work takes me.

How I Work

Observation

Everything starts with looking closely. I study light, form, and texture in everyday objects and moments before picking up any tools.

Experimentation

I try new materials, combine unexpected mediums, and let happy accidents guide the work. Some of my best pieces started as mistakes.

Reflection

After creating, I step back and ask: what is this piece saying? What worked? What would I do differently? Growth comes from honest self-assessment.
